After an excellent sleep we wake early to a perfect dawn.
After breakfast, Erik Nygaard takes his DGU car and the children, and Niels Stentoft his Morris Minor with Peter Toft, to Jydeleje.
Ulla drives off shopping. I join the Bathursts in their car with Hilda, and we look at the churches at Fanefjord, Kjeldby and Elmelunde.
Superb sunshine. We meet Ulla in Stege, happily shopping.
Diana Bathurst, Robin Bathurst, Hilda and I continue to Jydeleje and walk down the cliff steps. We find, at 1 o’clock, Niels and Erik and Peter Toft battling in clay to retrieve equipment in the Chalk Masons Gully!
We eat lunch on the beach.
Then we use the new machine – an electric drill fitted to a broad wire brush – with a portable generator. It works marvellously. We clean a 3 metre long strip of cliff surface under the Great Speaker and find exciting fabrics. No Zoophycos. The work we do in an hour is equivalent to four hours manually. The motorized “plane” is a success!
Hilda and D return first and we others join them later. All drive back to Daneflint in high spirits, enjoying the sunset.
Ulla has enjoyed her day and has supper ready. We look at aerial photo prints, papers etc before supper.
After supper I show slides of Cephalonia underwater.
Bed at about 12:50.
